Last night on Tuesday i had one of my two karate training sessions for the week. Lately sessions have been hard because the head coach carl is training all of us to be ready for our gradings. The past 4 weeks the training has been intense and is only getting harder. We start off every session with stretching and a light jog, then we have a half an hour of high intencity aerobic exercises, such as pushups, running, squats, burpies and various types of situps to build a strong core. After the exercise we stretch lightly again and get down to the real training. We start with kicks to eachothers stomach sometimes it isnt so bad and you can take it, but at other times people go all out and leave you winded. We then do 20 minutes of 2 minute rounds of punching the punching bags with about 10 second breaks inbetween, when you do this 2 minutes can feel like hours and it leaves you gasping for breath no matter how fit you are. After the punching bags your arms and legs are weak and you can barely lift them but before you start to relax you have to get through 20 minutes of sparring with various opponents, this is what kills you because most people at my club are ruthless and if you do not block they will hit you, hard. The only defence is to fight harder and hit them back and run down the clock, by which time your ready to collapse. Then comes the easy part doing techniques, this is relaxing as it is also a form of meditiation and helps you cool down at a constant rate instead of stopping and completely stopping your heart rate. Then we finish and bow off. Although it is so hard and intense and during it you feel like your going to pass out i wouldnt want to do any other sport.

The Beach
Last weekend was pretty hot, i couldnt bare it anymore so i organized with some friends to go down to the beach we met up in town on the saturday at around 1 o’clock and caught the tram from the city to glenelg. As soon as we arrived i felt the atmosphere of the beach, i could smell the seawater and it just felt great. I love summer because all Australians have the something to share with eachother, we can share the heat. As soon as i got in the water it felt amazing. The heat that i had been putting up with all week at school went away the water was beautiful and i didnt wanna get out. Eventually i had to and i went back to the towels and chilled out for a while before getting something to eat. All in all it was a great day and i cant wait until next weekend so i can do it all again.
Alcohol and Studying Doesn’t Mix
Recently Deptuy principle Sean Clarke posted an article in the newsletter saying alcohol and study doesnt mix. This is quite obvious i dont see why he even bothered including this in the newsletter, if students are binge drinking at such a young age then they have made their own firm decision to do so. If it gets to the point where kids are drinking excessivly and their grades start to fall its time for an outside party to step in and set them straight. This isnt an article that has to be posted in a newsletter as it is so blatently obvious that children shouldnt drink at a young age, every good parent should know that it is bad for their health.
Jewellery and phones
The school policy has recently been much stricter in the use of mobile phones and ipods, i believe that this rule is stupid. Fair enough mobile phones shouldnt be used in class, but when i am in english or in a computing lesson i believe that listening to my ipod actually concentrates me. When i listen to my ipod it shuts out distractions around the classro0m, i can concentrate on my thoughts and do my work accordingly. As for jewelerry such as necklaces and earings what difference does it make if a student wears them? Do they learn any differently? The fuss they make about it is stupid, what is really annoying is that they can keep your valuables for a whole term, this to me is so pointless as people dont learn, as soon as they get their items back they are going to wear them again, its just a waste of the students and teachers time trying to confiscate these things.
Internet Addiction
This blog is in response to the cbc newsletter of week 2 term 4.
The article in question is the one about internet addiction or a technology addiction. I dont agree totally with this article, it states that the internet can lead to many conditions such as depression and hostility. The thing about this article is that it places the blame on the kids, that they are abusing the internet but the truth is that the parents are responsible. In the end the parents are supposed to moderate the content and how long their children are supposed to use the computer, if they let their kids stay on the internet and they start to become depressed and addicted, it is no one elses fault but their own as kids should be spending time outside and socializing instead of on the computers. The fact is parents should be taking a stand and if they dont want their kids to become addicted to the internet then they should do something about it, instead of sitting there and complaining about how much time they spend on the computer or playing computer games.
My Party
Last week of the holidays i managed to throw a party for my birthday that was the last week. I didnt really know it was going to be my party until a couple days before, because I was rostered to work that Friday but i managed to get out of it. It was originally going to be my friend nabila’s party at this guy amo’s house but she suggested we have a joint one so i invited all of my mates and organized security which in the end was a life saver. That night Jack came to my house and we waited for Aaron to come but he took his time and we didnt leave for my party until about 9.00pm. When we arrived we realized we hadn’t missed much and hardly no one was there yet. It didnt take long for it to get packed out and the whole house was shaking, my cousin arrived as security with a few of his mates and kept a bunch of troublemakers out, which was good because everyone was having a good time, the rest of the night was a bit of a blur and at around 12:00am the police ended up shutting the place down. About nine of us wandered back to Alex’s house where we raided his pantry and made a mess of his floor before having an extremely cold sleep. Andrew however got kicked outside by Alex and slept outside until 4 in the morning. Still an amazing night.
My First Drive
Recently i got my Learners permit on the day after my birthday. I was so keen to get behind the wheel that i nagged my dad before he finally gave in and we went out driving that night. Because i wasnt that confident my dad drove to an empty street near my house, pulled over and got out and i sat in the drivers seat. I put on my seatbelt and took off the handbrake, put the gear in drive and asked my dad what to do next. He simply said “just go”. I took off at a blistering speed of 5km/h and was confronted with my first turn i clicked on my indicator to turn right and slowly and very uneasily made my turn. Almost coming to a complete stop my dad told me to keep going and so i did, taking it all the way up to 15km/h. This continued for a while but after half hour i was travelling comfortably at 50 km/h and my dad told me to turn on to glynburn road, which was fairly busy. I had to drive side by side to a few cars which was a little bit daunting, but after a few minutes i was in my comfort zone again, driving at 60km/h and even at one point 70km/h just because the car was touchy. My dad said i had improved greatly in a matter of an hour and my turning was excellent, i even managed to park the car in the driveway, all in all i think i did extremely well and even now ive improved immensly , I am able to drive in the busiest road and it doesnt phase me.
The F-Bomb
Recently a mother of two went shopping with her kids, they were in the change rooms when shockingly, music started playing the mother found this music offensive, claiming “We were subjected to a loud barrage of foul and highly disturbing lyrics, including the ‘F’ word,” . After this incidence she went to everyone and tried to plead her cause. Record companies, Police, Goveners, Victorian consumer affairs. Unfortunately for her, no action was taken on her account but she managed to get a news story out of it. I for one believe she should realize that people have been using swear words in music for years, not only in new age songs. They are used to express ones emotions and if she didnt want to listen to them, then she should’ve just walked out of the store with her kids right then and there. Even so no one wants to listen to an angry mother talking about swear words in songs, even after reading this article i felt as though she is just someone looking for attention and if it was a genuine concern for her kids well being she should just get over it. They wont grow up remembering the first time they heard the F-word in a clothing shop in melbourne.
The End of The World
There has been much speculation about the world coming to an end on the 21st of December 2012. In the past months the media all around the world has been publisizing this message of doom. Predictions such as earthquakes, tidal waves, global flooding and even the earths north and south poles to rolecate themselves are all the rage. I for one believe that the predictions are dramatically exaggerated and therefore incorrect. The theory is that the ancient mayan’s had a calander that predicted the world was going to end on the 21st of December 2012. In the calender it showed this date as the very last date on the calender and the mayans had judged this by astronomy. The reason that it has been speculated and publisized so much is because the mayans predicted that a very rare process takes part in the solar system on that day. The sun and all the planets allign exactly, an incedence that only takes place every 25,800 years. The mayans were right about the allignment of the planets, so this is why it is being publisized, if they were right about that they could be right about the end of the world right?
I for one am sceptical, after researching the matter it also showed that the mayans predicted that the world would also end in 4772 , still on the 21st of December 2012 i can’t help but wonder if anything will happen.
My Holiday Reflection
My two weeks of holidays were quite amusing, i got up to many things, for one it was my birthday, i finaly got my learners license and had a blast of a party, the downside was that i worked for most of the second week but all in all it was a pretty good break from school.
Getting my license was a pretty memorable experience. On the day of my birthday i was so intent on getting my l’s i went to transport S.A straight away. Unfortunately i hadn’t really studied at all and went and did the test on my prior knowledge and failed. Although i was pretty annoyed at that it was still my birthday and thought i’d better enjoy it and worry about my license later. I had a nice family dinner and then went out with a few of my friends for the rest of the night. I didnt get back until the early hours of the morning and decided to wake up early to study for my license again, after studying for an hour and being exhausted from the night before i still felt edgy about doing the test again. Despite this i went to transport S.A and passed, walking out with a smile on my face i was looking forward to my first drive.
